Sonder Quilt Retreat 2023

Check-in available at the Kansas City Maker Studio at 12:00 noon. Sew and socialize through the afternoon. A list of local shops will be provided if you’d like to visit or shop! Meet and get to know each other, and share a chef-prepared dinner at the house. Sew as late as you’d like!

Saturday, July 1, 2023

A light breakfast of coffee, pastries, fruit, etc. will be provided at the house. We’ll head to Hamilton in the morning (about an hour drive) to visit Quilt Town, USA and Missouri Star Quilt Company. Lunch will be on your own in Hamilton. We’ll return in the afternoon for sewing and socializing, and share dinner delivered to the house in the evening.

Sunday, July 2, 2023

A light breakfast of coffee, pastries, fruit, etc. will be provided at the house. Join us for a local hike in the morning with transportation provided, then return to the house for a full day of sewing, socializing, or whatever you’d like! Lunch will be on your own (a list of local restaurant options to visit or for delivery will be provided!). We’ll head out for dinner at a restaurant for our last night together (transportation provided; cost of this dinner will be on your own to allow for each individual to order what they’d like!).

Monday, July 3, 2023

A light breakfast of coffee, pastries, fruit, etc. will be provided at the house. A yoga instructor will join us at the house for a morning class with instruction and all props provided. Sew through the morning, then pack up and check out at 12:00 noon.

Friday night at 6 pm: chef-prepared fajita dinner at the house by The Electrified Cooks (included for all attendees)

Saturday morning from 9 am - 4 pm: visit to Missouri Star Quilt Co. in Hamilton (transportation to and from Hamilton provided, lunch will be on your own in Hamilton)

Saturday evening dinner at the house from Minsky’s (included for all attendees)

Sunday morning from 10 am - noon: hike at Hidden Valley Park (transportation provided)

Sunday evening at 6:30 pm: dinner out at Garozzo’s (transportation provided, order and pay on your own)

Monday morning at 9 am: yoga class at the house by In Bliss Yoga (included for all attendees)

From Patti, our retreat house host:

My husband, Dana, and I are onsite hosts who live in the retreat center and come and go throughout the retreat weekend. I spend most of my days at the quilt shop and Dana works for the city and is away during the days, so if you don’t see us around and need us, you can always reach us with a call or text to 816-686-3570 .

Check In Time:

Any time after noon on Friday. Just punch in your door code and make yourselves at home!

Parking:

When you arrive, feel free to pull into the driveway to unload, then park on the street. The street is very safe and parking is plentiful.

Access:

Our home is controlled with electronic keypad locks. We have your 4 digit code set at 6303. We set one code for the front door and if anyone wants to keep their rooms locked, we can set individual codes for the keypads on the bedrooms.

Preparing Meals:

You have full access to the kitchen, so if there’s anything you need that you aren’t locating, just check in with us. Any food you need refrigerated can be placed in the kitchen refrigerator. There’s also a refrigerator for drinks and snacks in the sewing studio, so anything you want to snack on during the day can be placed there. We ask that the kitchen be cleaned up after each meal and the island kept clear so we can also use the kitchen as needed. If extra space is needed, please use the breakfast room for storage.

Quilt Shop:

Visit our quilt shop during the retreat and all retreat participants receive a 10% discount on their purchases on top of any sale or clearance prices. The shop is about a 10 minute drive from the retreat center and is located at 5327 Johnson Drive, Mission KS 66205.

Check Out Instructions:

Check out is 12pm on Monday unless other arrangements are made. Leave beds unmade and place all used towels on bathroom floors.
